The Jr. Road Warriors at Arch Madness 2024

The Jr. Road Warriors capped off another great tournament, taking 3rd place at the Arch Madness Tournament in St. Louis. The team posted big wins over teams from Madison, Wisconsin and Chicago, before falling to a Chicago’s other team. That was the first loss of the season, and showed us a few areas where we need to improve.

That placed us in position to play for 3rd place against the Nebraska Red Dawgs. We have not had many opportunities to play Nebraska, and we have never beaten them. Nebraska took a 6-4 lead to start the game, and after a few adjustments we completed the quarter on a 16-0 run to finish up 20-6. Braulio and Nate were on a mission and the team was determined to win this final game of the tournament.

Nate and Braulio each posted career highs, combining for 57 points, with Braulio having 34 points and 8 assists to go along with Nate’s 23 points and 4 assists. Together they went 28/43 from the field for 65%. Gabe rounded out the scoring with 8 points and 2 assists. Adam, Amir, and Alpha did all the grunt work, setting picks to get their teammates open and playing incredible defense. This was absolutely a huge team effort. This ran our record to 7-1 on the season, with tournaments in Fresno, Phoenix, and Salt Lake City coming up over the next few months before heading into the Conference Championship Tournament. This team is so much fun to coach. It is a great group of kids that are working incredibly hard to make each other better and have some fun in the process.
